Who Africa Prudential Is
According to its 2025 annual report, the company was incorporated as UBA Registrars Ltd on 23 March 2006 and changed its name to Africa Prudential Registrars Plc on 10 August 2011. It was listed on the Nigerian Exchange in January 2013, and in June 2013 it acquired UAC Registrars Ltd. Following a special resolution of its members on 28 March 2017, it took its present name, Africa Prudential Plc.
Because the company is itself listed, you may see Africa Prudential in two roles: as a registrar for other companies, and as a listed company with its own shareholders. This guide is about the first. Its website lists probate and transmission services, dematerialisation, and a self-service app and data update portal for shareholders alongside its core registrar work.
Old Names You May See on Documents
- UBA Registrars Ltd: the name from 2006 to 2011.
- Africa Prudential Registrars Plc: the name from 2011 to 2017.
- UAC Registrars Ltd: a registrar acquired by Africa Prudential in 2013, so older UAC-related paperwork may carry this name.
A certificate or warrant carrying one of these names is a lead, not an answer. It shows who the registrar was at the time. Always confirm the company's current registrar before sending anything.
How to Tell Whether Africa Prudential Holds Your Shares
Ready to start investing in Nigerian stocks? Shares Saver registers your shares directly in your own name through SEC-regulated brokers.
As listed on Africa Prudential's own client information page in 2026, its clients include UBA Group, BUA Foods Plc, BUA Cement, Transcorp Group, Transcorp Hotels Plc, UACN Plc and Jaiz Bank Plc. For companies not on that list, look at the corporate information section of the company's latest annual report or the proxy form in its AGM notice. Our guide to finding which registrar holds your shares covers the other sources.
What Shareholders Contact Africa Prudential About
- Setting up or changing an e-dividend mandate for a client company.
- Updating a name, address, email, phone number or signature on the register.
- Checking for outstanding dividends on a holding and claiming them.
- Certificate matters: lost certificates, certificates never received, and dematerialisation into a CSCS account.
- Transmission of shares after a death, with a grant of probate or letters of administration.
- Bonus and rights issue entitlements that have not arrived.
Under Section 60 of the Finance Act 2020, dividends unclaimed for six years or more are due to be transferred to the Unclaimed Funds Trust Fund, a point the SEC restated in a circular in June 2025. If you are chasing a very old dividend, ask the registrar whether it is still held there or has been transferred, and how to claim it.
How to Contact Africa Prudential
