According to its website, Apel Capital & Trust Limited was set up in 1992 to provide asset management, registrar and trusteeship services, and the registrar business now sits in its own company, APEL Capital Registrars Limited. It describes more than 20 years of experience and more than 30 client companies. Older forms and SEC lists may show the name Apel Capital & Trust Registrars: the SEC's e-dividend forms page lists it under that name.
Besides keeping registers of shareholders, it lists probate and transmission, AGMs and voting, employee share plans and corporate services among the work it does.
How to Tell Whether APEL Holds Your Shares
The companies named on APEL's own website and e-dividend form include International Breweries, NEM Insurance, LASACO Assurance, Linkage Assurance, Mutual Benefits Assurance, Red Star Express, NCR Nigeria, Pharma-Deko, Skyway Aviation Handling and Eunisell Interlinked. Mutual Benefits Assurance appointed it in 2021, replacing its previous registrar. The APEL E-Dividend Mandate Form
APEL publishes an e-dividend mandate activation form on its website. It asks for your BVN, bank name, account number and the date the account was opened, your CHN if you have one, a passport photograph and your signature. The form states a fee of ₦150. A mandate lets the registrar pay every future dividend straight into your bank account, and lets it release dividends it is holding for you. What to Prepare
- The full name exactly as it appears on the register, and any earlier names or spellings.
- The companies whose shares you hold.
- Any shareholder account number from APEL or earlier registrar correspondence, and your CHN.
- A valid government-issued photo ID and your BVN.
- Copies of share certificates, dividend warrants or allotment letters.
- A bank account in the shareholder's own name for the mandate.
