Coronation Registrars: A Shareholder's Guide
Who Coronation Registrars is, why older documents say United Securities Limited, how to tell whether it keeps the register for your shares, and what to prepare before contacting it.
Coronation Registrars Limited is a Nigerian share registrar, registered and regulated by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Nigeria and part of the Coronation group. Until 2020 it traded as United Securities Limited. It keeps the register of members for large listed companies, including Dangote Cement Plc, and its official web presence is on coronation.ng; the address coronationregistrars.com redirects there.

Who Coronation Registrars Is
Coronation Registrars describes itself as a registrar providing securities register and data administration services, and says it pioneered electronic polling, e-dividends, e-bonus, e-notifications and e-lodgement in Nigeria. It sits within the Coronation group, whose holding company, Coronation Group Limited, is registered with the SEC as a capital market holding company. On its own website the registrar reports that in 2025 it processed ₦1.28 trillion in dividends and held a 34.8% share of the NGX market by its measure.
Formerly United Securities Limited
In November 2020 United Securities Limited announced that it had received approval from the Corporate Affairs Commission to change its name to Coronation Registrars Limited. Dividend warrants, certificates and letters issued before then may carry the United Securities name. The registers themselves did not move: a holding recorded with United Securities for a company that still uses this registrar is now administered under the Coronation name.
Coronation Registrars was formerly United Securities Limited. It is not the former City Securities Registrars, which is now CardinalStone Registrars.
How to Tell Whether Coronation Holds Your Shares
Ready to start investing in Nigerian stocks? Shares Saver registers your shares directly in your own name through SEC-regulated brokers.
Each company appoints its own registrar. As listed in Dangote Cement Plc's annual report for 2024, published in 2025, shareholders with unclaimed certificates or dividends are directed to Coronation Registrars, and Dangote Cement's own share information page names the same registrar. For other companies, check the corporate information page of the latest annual report, the proxy form in the AGM notice or a recent dividend advice. Our guide to finding which registrar holds your shares explains how to read each one.
What Shareholders Contact Coronation About
- Registering or changing an e-dividend mandate.
- Updating an address, name, email or phone number on the register.
- Finding out what dividends are outstanding on a holding and how to claim them.
- Unclaimed share certificates, lost certificates and dematerialisation into a CSCS account.
- Transmission of a deceased shareholder's holding, supported by a grant of probate or letters of administration.
- Bonus and rights entitlements, and AGM matters such as proxies.
For very old dividends, bear in mind that Section 60 of the Finance Act 2020 provides for dividends unclaimed for six years or more to be transferred to the Unclaimed Funds Trust Fund, as the SEC restated in June 2025. The registrar can tell you where a particular payment now sits.
How to Contact Coronation Registrars
Start from the Coronation website, coronation.ng, which carries the registrar's pages and its investor portal for managing shareholdings online. The annual report of the company whose shares you hold also gives the registrar's details. Do not rely on contact details found in directories or on pages still using the United Securities name.
What to Prepare
- The full name on the holding, exactly as registered, and any earlier names.
- The companies you are asking about.
- Any registrar account number from old United Securities or Coronation correspondence, and your CHN.
- A valid government-issued photo ID and your BVN.
- Copies of certificates, dividend warrants or allotment letters.
- Bank details for an account in the shareholder's own name, if you are setting up an e-dividend mandate.
