Who DataMax Registrars Is
According to its own website, DataMax Registrars was incorporated as a limited liability company on 7 February 2006, under the name GTB Registrars Limited. Its principal business is securities registration and data administration for client companies, and it also offers document management services such as digitisation and workflow automation to businesses.
For shareholders, the website lists e-dividend services, online self-service, KYC and contact updates, dematerialisation, and probate and transmission support.
Formerly GTB Registrars
Older dividend warrants and letters, particularly those for Guaranty Trust Bank shares, may carry the name GTB Registrars. That is the same company under its earlier name. Search engines and directories sometimes blur it with other registrars; the name to use today is DataMax Registrars Limited.
DataMax Registrars was formerly GTB Registrars Limited. First Registrars and Investor Services is a different firm, which came out of FirstBank, not GTBank.
How to Tell Whether DataMax Holds Your Shares

Each company appoints its own registrar. As listed on DataMax Registrars' own website in 2026, its clients include GTCO, NGX, Seplat, AXA Mansard, Notore and Zichis Agro-Allied Industries Plc. For other companies, look at the corporate information page of the company's latest annual report, the AGM proxy form or a recent dividend advice. Our guide to finding which registrar holds your shares explains each source.
What Shareholders Contact DataMax About
- Registering or changing an e-dividend mandate.
- Updating a name, address, email or phone number through its KYC and contact update services.
- Checking whether dividends have been paid and claiming any that are outstanding.
- Dematerialising paper certificates into a CSCS account, and replacing lost certificates.
- Transmission of a deceased shareholder's holding, supported by a grant of probate or letters of administration.
- Bonus and rights entitlements, and AGM proxies.
On very old dividends, Section 60 of the Finance Act 2020 provides for dividends unclaimed for six years or more to be transferred to the Unclaimed Funds Trust Fund, as the SEC restated in June 2025. Ask the registrar where a specific payment now sits and how to claim it.
