A valid Bank Verification Number and your Nigerian international passport. Nigerian citizens only.
Registered to your legal name with the Nigerian registrar and the CSCS — not a platform balance.
Eligibility
Shares Saver is currently only available to Nigerian citizens. Non-Nigerians cannot invest at this time, regardless of where they live.
A valid BVN (Bank Verification Number) is required. Your BVN links your identity to Nigeria's banking system and must be provided during onboarding.
You must fund your account through a Nigerian bank account. Canadian bank accounts cannot be used for funding.
The process is fully digital and completed through the Shares Saver app. You create an account, complete identity verification, choose an NGX-listed company, set up a monthly savings plan, and fund it from your Nigerian bank account. Shares Saver instructs a regulated Nigerian stockbroker to purchase and register your shares in your name.
Canadian bank accounts (CAD) cannot be used to fund your Shares Saver account directly. You will need an active Nigerian bank account. Many Nigerians in Canada use remittance services to move CAD to their Nigerian naira account, then fund their Shares Saver account from there. Nigerian shares are priced in Naira (₦) on the NGX.
Unlike some platforms where your portfolio is just a balance view, Shares Saver works so that purchased shares are registered directly in your legal name with the relevant Nigerian registrar. Your ownership record exists independently of the Shares Saver platform.
