Maintain a stake in Nigerian growth
Nigerian Exchange (NGX) listed companies span banking, telecoms, consumer goods, oil and gas, and more. Owning shares gives you a direct financial stake in the companies driving the Nigerian economy.
🌍 Diaspora Investing · Europe
Nigerians living anywhere in Europe can buy and own NGX-listed shares directly in their own name through Shares Saver. Holdings are registered through regulated Nigerian stockbroker partners — not held in a pooled or nominee structure.
Shares Saver is currently only available to Nigerian citizens. Non-Nigerians cannot invest at this time, regardless of where they live in Europe.
A valid BVN (Bank Verification Number) is required. Your BVN links your identity to Nigeria's banking system and must be provided during onboarding.
You must fund your account through a Nigerian bank account. European bank accounts — whether EUR, GBP, or CHF — cannot be used for funding.
Hundreds of thousands of Nigerians live across Europe — in Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Ireland, Spain, Portugal, Finland, Switzerland and beyond. Many maintain strong financial ties to Nigeria: sending remittances home, supporting family businesses, and building long-term wealth tied to Nigerian economic growth. Owning Nigerian shares directly extends that connection in a formal, regulated way.

For diaspora Nigerians who plan to return or maintain family ties to Nigeria, direct share ownership is one way to build assets denominated in the Nigerian economy — separate from European savings and pension systems.
Shares Saver registers your holdings in your legal name through regulated brokers. You are not buying units in a collective fund — you own specific shares in specific Nigerian companies.
Each guide covers the process, currency notes, and tax considerations relevant to Nigerians in that specific country.
The steps are the same regardless of which European country you are based in. Shares Saver handles the Nigerian broker relationship so you do not need to open a separate stockbroking account.
Register on Shares Saver and complete identity verification using your international passport or government-issued ID.
Browse NGX-listed companies across banking, consumer goods, telecoms, oil and gas and more. Select the ones you want to invest in.
Choose a monthly contribution amount. Shares Saver is designed for gradual, long-term investing — not short-term trading.
Shares Saver instructs a regulated Nigerian broker to buy and register your shares. Your name appears on the register.
To comply with Nigerian KYC regulations, you will need to verify your identity within the Shares Saver app. A valid international passport is typically accepted regardless of which European country you reside in. The process is completed digitally — you do not need to visit a branch.
European bank accounts (EUR, GBP, CHF, or other local currencies) cannot be used to fund your Shares Saver account. You will need an active Nigerian bank account. Many Nigerians in Europe use remittance services to send funds to their Nigerian naira account, then fund their Shares Saver account from there.
Tax treatment of foreign investments varies significantly across European countries. EU member states, EEA countries, and Switzerland each have their own rules on reporting foreign income and capital gains. You should consult a qualified tax adviser in your country of residence before investing. Shares Saver does not provide tax advice.
